The Outpost Artist - Artist Diane Lary
Fun Art For Life
Diane, aka “The Outpost Artist”, is a native of Michigan, but has made her home in the “Redlands” of South Florida. There she has found true happiness living amongst the natural beauty of her “Jungle Outpost”.
While growing up, Diane had a talent for drawing, but never went into art as a profession because her interest in science prevailed. She went on to graduate the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following a 2 year research position at the U of M, Diane began a long career with a top biomedical corporation located in South Florida. During this time her early interest in art resurfaced as a desire to pursue watercolor painting. While working full time, with a husband and small children, Diane found time to study watercolor techniques by attending local workshops sponsored by the Miami Watercolor Society. She also attended plein air watercolor classes at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in Coral Gables, Florida. Here she was able to capture the true beauty of bright light and vibrant color, which expresses the tropical foliage of Florida.
As hard work typically pays off, Diane has retired from the corporate life and is now able to devote additional time to her passion. Working exclusively in watercolor, Diane loves to describe her subject through light, color and depth. The mixture of foliage and rustic charm is the most intriguing for her. These efforts have permitted Diane to garner numerous awards and accolades for her paintings.
Diane also participates in a number of open air art festivals every year, often earning awards. Additionally, she is an active member of the Miami Watercolor Society. She has held office as Vice President, and currently is the President of MWS. Diane participates in their biannual Exhibitions, often winning awards. She is a signature member of the Miami, San Diego and Northwest Watercolor Society’s.
In 2012 her painting “That Knot’s Yours” was accepted in the 145th Annual American Watercolor Society Exhibition.
Most importantly, Diane has the support of a phenomenal and extremely understanding man, her husband Todd. Together they have 3 wonderful children, Elizabeth, Curtis and Brittney who support and encourage her to create and promote her art. Diane’s exceptional family continues to inspire her to follow her dreams, and her paint brush.
